AM General

AM General LLC is an American defense vehicle manufacturer best known for creating the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV, or Humvee). AM General was established as a division of American Motors Corporation and became independent after acquisition by Renco Group. The Humvee became the most prolific US military vehicle after Vietnam, with over 300,000 built, serving in all branches of the US military and exported to 50+ nations. The militarized M998 HMMWV family replaced the M151 jeep across US forces. AM General also produces the M1161 Growler and various military trucks. The civilian Hummer H1 was a commercial spinoff.
