Overview
The Minuteman III is the sole land-based ICBM in the United States nuclear triad. Each missile can carry up to three W78 or one W87 nuclear warhead with a range exceeding 13,000 km. Deployed in hardened underground silos across three Air Force bases, the Minuteman III fleet is maintained in a constant state of readiness and represents a key component of American strategic deterrence.
