Avibras Aeroespacial S.A. is Brazil's leading rocket and missile manufacturer, headquartered in São José dos Campos. Best known for the ASTROS II MRL (Artillery SaTuration ROcket System) — a modular multiple launch rocket system that fires 70mm, 180mm, 300mm, and 450mm rockets to ranges from 9 to 300+ km. ASTROS II has been exported to Saudi Arabia (used in Yemen), Iraq, and others. Avibras also produced the AV-MTC 300 Matador cruise missile. Engesa (Engenheiros Especializados S.A., now defunct) was the producer of Brazil's EE-9 Cascavel armored car and EE-11 Urutu APC — two of Brazil's most successful defense exports of the 1970s-80s.
