Overview
Stabilization-focused frigate designed for extended deployments in crisis management, low-intensity maritime security, and stabilization operations — a unique concept in Western naval design. Displacement of 7,200 tonnes with a 2-crew rotation concept enabling 24-month deployments with 5,000 nautical mile range. Armed with 2x RIM-116 RAM launchers, 2x Oto Melara 127mm guns (unique twin arrangement), 5x MLG 27 27mm remote weapons, and 4x RBS 15 Mk3 anti-ship missiles. Features a large flight deck and hangar for 2x NH90 helicopters plus RHIB deployment facilities. Extensive automation allows a core crew of just 110 (down from 240 on F124). Four ships in class: Baden-Württemberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Sachsen-Anhalt, and Rheinland-Pfalz.
