IMI Rampage
Type: Ballistic Missile (ICBM)
Domain: air
Country of Origin: Israel
Manufacturer: IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries)
First Deployed: 2020
Overview
Air-launched supersonic precision strike missile derived from the EXTRA rocket-assisted munition, designed for standoff engagement of high-value, time-sensitive, and hardened targets. The Rampage features a solid rocket motor providing supersonic speed (reducing flight time and enemy reaction time), GPS/INS guidance with a CEP of less than 10 metres, a 150 kg penetrating/blast warhead, and range exceeding 150 km when launched from altitude. The missile is designed for carriage by fighter aircraft including the F-16I and F-15I, with 2-4 missiles per aircraft depending on configuration. Rampage addresses the need for a cost-effective standoff weapon that is cheaper than cruise missiles but provides longer range and greater accuracy than unguided or short-range guided bombs. The supersonic terminal speed enhances penetration of hardened targets and reduces the effectiveness of point defence systems. Combat-proven in Israeli Air Force operations.
