Overview
The Kumsong-3 is North Korea's primary anti-ship cruise missile, developed as a derivative of the Russian Kh-35 Uran (NATO: AS-20 Kayak). Unveiled in 2017, it uses a sea-skimming flight profile to minimize detection time. The system can be launched from shore-based batteries, surface vessels, and potentially helicopters. While based on the proven Kh-35 design, the actual accuracy and seeker performance of the North Korean derivative are unknown. Range is estimated at approximately 100-130 km.
