Overview

Advanced unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) for mine countermeasures — representing the future of naval mine warfare where robots replace human divers in hazardous disposal operations. The Double Eagle Mk3 is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) weighing approximately 80 kg with operating depth to 300 metres, endurance of 10+ hours, advanced sonar providing high-resolution imaging of suspected mines, electro-optical/infrared cameras for visual identification, and modular payload bay for mine disposal charges, cutting tools, or sensors. The system can identify, classify, and neutralize mines including bottom mines, moored mines, and improvised explosive devices. Controlled from surface vessels via fiber-optic tether providing real-time video and data transmission. Multiple Double Eagles can operate simultaneously from a single mothership, dramatically increasing area clearance rates. The system enables mine clearance without exposing human divers to lethal hazards. Operated by Sweden and exported to multiple navies for mine countermeasures. Saab has delivered 100+ systems globally. Combat-proven in operations clearing mines in the Baltic Sea and other operational areas.
