Sea Baby Kamikaze USV
Type: Unmanned Underwater Vehicle
Domain: sea
Country of Origin: Ukraine
Manufacturer: Ukrspetsexport / Ukrainian SOF
Overview
Ukrainian explosive-laden unmanned surface vessel functioning as a naval kamikaze drone — devastating Russian naval forces through asymmetric warfare. Sea Baby is larger than Magura V5 with length of approximately 5-6 metres, displacement estimated at 1+ tonnes, maximum speed exceeding 50 km/h, operational range of 600+ km, warhead of 850 kg high-explosive (vastly more powerful than Magura), satellite communication for remote operation, cameras for terminal guidance, and exceptionally low radar cross-section through semi-submersible design with only camera mast above water. Sea Baby operates fully remotely with operators controlling from secure locations hundreds of kilometers away. The massive warhead provides capability to sink or mission-kill large warships. Notable successes include the Kerch Bridge attack (July 2023, though attribution disputed), attacks on Russian landing ships in Sevastopol (2023-2024), and sinking the Ivanovets missile corvette (February 2024, confirmed by video). The attacks forced Russian Black Sea Fleet to relocate from Sevastopol to Novorossiysk, demonstrating strategic impact. Production remains classified but operational use confirms serial production. Cost per unit estimated at under $250,000 versus tens of millions for anti-ship missiles.
