Shaldag Mk V Fast Attack Craft
The Shaldag Mk V is an Israeli fast attack craft built by Israel Shipyards, optimized for coastal patrol, special operations insertion, and interdiction missions. At 23 m length and displacing approximately 54 tonnes, it achieves speeds over 50 knots using twin MTU diesel engines. Armed with heavy machine guns and automatic cannon, the Shaldag provides Azerbaijan's Caspian Fleet with high-speed strike and patrol capability. The low radar cross-section design and composite superstructure reduce detectability in coastal environments.

- Very high speed for rapid response
- Low radar signature composite hull
- Israeli combat-proven design
- Effective for interdiction on Caspian
- Advanced sensors for small vessel class
- Limited to Caspian Sea operations
- Small crew limits sustained operations
- Limited range
- Weather sensitive at high speed

SIGN INThe hull form indicates a deliberate choice for sea-keeping over sprint speed — correct priorities for sustained operations.
Active protection system integration at this weight class represents a significant leap in survivability calculus.

Ammunition capacity versus protection trade-off here reflects deliberate doctrinal choices worth examining.
