The Type 039C (Yuan class, later variant) is China's most advanced conventionally powered attack submarine, featuring air-independent propulsion (AIP) using the Stirling engine system. It is China's most stealthy SSK, with advanced hydrodynamic shaping and coatings. The Type 039C carries Yu-6 heavyweight torpedoes and CJ-18 submarine-launched cruise missiles, providing both anti-surface and land-attack capabilities.
