The Type 15 (ZTQ-15) is a light tank designed by NORINCO for high-altitude and complex terrain operations, specifically for Tibet and Xinjiang where heavier MBTs struggle. Weighing only 33-35 tonnes, it is air-transportable by Y-20 and can be rapidly deployed to contested highland areas. Armed with a 105mm gun capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT, and laser-guided missiles, it provides meaningful firepower at altitude.

- Light weight enables air transport by Y-20 for rapid deployment
- Specifically optimized for high-altitude performance (>4,000 m)
- Modular armor allows threat-based protection upgrades
- Amphibious capability without preparation
- 105mm gun adequate for light vehicles and fortifications
- 105mm gun insufficient against modern heavy MBTs like Leopard 2 or Abrams
- Light armor compromised against heavy ATGMs
- Limited to light tank role, cannot replace main battle tanks
- Range limited compared to heavier MBTs

SIGN INMobility cross-country is more operationally significant than top speed on paved surfaces. This platform understands that.
The vertical launch capacity here provides mission flexibility that single-role warships simply cannot match.
The crew ergonomics improvements here translate directly to reduced decision latency under fire.

Network integration allows this platform to function as a sensor node as much as a strike platform.
